There are many theories as to where and when Tarot Cards were first devised. The most popular belief is that they came from Northern Italy in the mid 15.th centaury to celebrate the union of two notable noble families.
These Tarot Cards were first brought into use to be used as a game for the Gentry but as time went by it became increasingly clear that they were getting a lot more from the cards than just a game. The cards took on a variety of different names until finally to be called what we know them as now, Tarot.
Tarot Card Reading has many uses but mainly to give answers to many questions that perhaps would normally remain unanswered, think of a topic ask a question and the Tarot will give an answer. However, it must be made clear here that Tarot Card Reading is only an INDICATION of what can be expected NOT to be taken as a true IS, WILL BE answer. Apart from giving answers it can also be used as a game as was first intended.
There are many tarot card packs available today with splendid artwork but most of which are based on the same theme, the first Tarot pack being the Rider Waite and noticeably the most popular for the complete beginners, they themselves having many designs. It is sadly said that the first plates for the production of the Rider Waite cards were destroyed during the second World War, luckily however, a copy set was locked away and survived and is believed that these are what is used today.
